LOW ARCHITECTURE: David King Custom Bass

The piece of spalted maple used for this custom bass first found itself in a vat of Crazy Glue in order to harden its areas of rot and fungi infestation.  My David King designed and built bass guitar started life in that vat,   but eventually became the compact,  headless,  and perfectly balanced instrument you see above.  I  chose such things as scale,  fingerboard material (ebony),  wood type/finish,  pickups/controls/electronics,  etc.,  making it a kind of collaboration.  It may not be right for every player,  but it's about the only bass I have that perfectly meets my musical needs and aesthetic expectations.
